The kings of thrash metal After a five-year hiatus, metal pioneers Anthrax return in 2016 with a new album. "For All Kings" is the title of the album, which once again offers a bombastic blend of thrash and heavy metal. This is the first record to feature Jon Donais on solo guitar. He came in as a replacement for Rob Caggiano in 2013. Otherwise, everything remained the same: Joey Belladonna on vocals, band founder Scott Ian on rhythm guitar, Frank Bello on bass and Charlie Benante on drums. Anthrax began recording "For All Kings" back in 2014. Over time, the band wrote about 20 songs together, eleven of which eventually made it onto the new album, including the singles "Evil Twin" (October 2015) and "Breathing Lightning" (January 2016). Both songs make it clear, without any detours, what listeners can expect from "For All Kings": unrestrained thrashy yet melodic heavy metal, clever songwriting and songs with an important message. In songs like "Evil Twin" and "Zero Tolerance", for example, they settle scores with religious fanaticism. There's also a message behind the album title: everyone can be their own king by taking responsibility for themselves and their causes, says Scott Ian. The recording of "For All Kings" was handled by old friend Jay Ruston. The producer was involved in the previous album "Worship Music" from 2011. In addition to the standard CD, "For All Kings" is also available as a double LP and as a double CD with four additional live tracks.
