Exhorder is an American thrash metal band from New Orleans, Louisiana, formed in 1985. They are widely recognized for their aggressive style of thrash metal and are often cited as one of the progenitors of the groove metal subgenre, despite being overshadowed in popularity by bands like Pantera, who would later help define and popularize the groove metal sound. Exhorder's career initially spanned a short period of time, with their first full-length album "Slaughter in the Vatican" released in 1990. This debut album was met with critical acclaim within the metal community for its ferocity and intensity.
