Frank Black, born Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV on April 6, 1965, is an American musician and singer-songwriter best known as the frontman of the influential alternative rock band Pixies, under the stage name Black Francis. After the Pixies initially disbanded in 1993, he embarked on a solo career under the name Frank Black. His solo work is characterized by a shift from the abrasive sound of the Pixies to a more melodic and eclectic rock style.
