Gegenschein

The members of Gegenschein are Henk Bril (a.k.a. "the Genius"), Rob Hotje (a.k.a. "the Voice") and William MacVaine (a.k.a. "the Wizzard"). Gegenschein is based in Sittard, The Netherlands. HQ is the 'ARSIS Studios' (ARSIS: A Roof Somewhere in Sittard), owned by William MacVaine. The musical style is a post-rock melting pot with influences of Pink Floyd, Brian Eno, Rammstein, Alan Parsons, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Electric Light Orchestra, Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Anne Pigalle, Manuel Gottsching, Laurie Anderson and Kraftwerk. Although the name sounds German, most songs are in English. The first album 'Dark Moon Over Paradise' was released in December 2015; the second album 'Struggle For Passion' was released in November 2019. Work has begon on their third album 'Magnificient Desolation', but COVID-19 restrictions have delayed that release significantly. In January 2022 a compilation double lp was released with highlights from the two CD's and two previously unreleased numbers.
