Killswitch Engage is an American metalcore band formed in Westfield, Massachusetts, in 1999. The band's lineup has gone through several changes over the years, with guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz and bassist Mike D'Antonio being the consistent members. Killswitch Engage's music is characterized by a fusion of heavy metal and hardcore punk, featuring both melodic singing and harsh screaming. They gained fame with their album "Alive or Just Breathing" (2002), which is often considered a landmark release within the metalcore genre. Following the departure of original vocalist Jesse Leach, Howard Jones took over as the lead singer for subsequent albums before Leach returned to the fold in 2012.
