American thrash metal band

Wehrmacht is a thrash metal band that was formed in Portland, Oregon in 1985. Known for their fast-paced style of thrash, which they referred to as "beercore," their music often contained elements of humor and fast tempos. The band's name, which is the German term for the armed forces in Nazi Germany, was chosen for its powerful sound rather than any political connotations. Wehrmacht released two influential albums in the late 1980s: "Shark Attack" in 1987 and "Biērmächt" in 1988. These albums helped to cement their place in the underground metal scene of the time. After disbanding in the early 1990s, Wehrmacht reunited several times and continued to have a cult following among thrash metal enthusiasts. Their influence can be seen in later bands that blend extreme speed with elements of crossover thrash and hardcore punk.
