UK independent label; DJM stands for Dick James Music. Label Code: LC 1278 / LC 01278 . GVL-registered label name: D.J.M. . Owned by Dick James, who had made his fortune by controlling The Beatles publishing company, Northern Songs, and then by his son, Stephen James. The label received 'The Queens Award For Export Achievement' in 1976 & '77, primarily due to revenue from its biggest act, Elton John. It was distributed initially in the UK by Pye Records, in Australia and New Zealand by Festival Records Pty. Ltd. and Festival Records (NZ) Ltd.. The label was bought by PolyGram in 1986.
