At the end of 2015 we had the opportunity to see this cycle under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle and it was subsequently released on CD and Blu-ray. The press hailed this performance as "energetic, forthright, honest and fierce" (Deutschlandradio Kultur) and a BBC Music Magazine reviewer spoke of "the best complete recording of Beethoven's symphonies I have ever seen or heard". Now the edition is released in an affordable new 5-CD/SACD version that can be played on any CD or SACD player. The edition includes a quality slipcase and a comprehensive booklet. The new edition allows playback with either the best CD sound or - when used as a SACD - in high-resolution sound quality and surround sound.
