Black Sabbath : 13 is the nineteenth studio album by English heavy metal band Black Sabbath , released in June 2013. It is the first studio album with original singer Ozzy Osbourne and bassist Geezer Butler since 1978's Never Say Die! and the first studio album with guitarist Tony Iommi since 1992's Dehumanizer. The album was produced by Rick Rubin, who had previously worked with Slayer, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Johnny Cash. The album was announced on January 11, 2013, with a release date set for June 2013. Drummer Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, who previously toured with Osbourne, replaced original drummer Bill Ward, who declined to participate in the reunion. Ward was replaced due to a contract dispute between the band and Ward, and his absence from the album caused some controversy. Black Sabbath : 13 received universally positive reviews from music critics. On Metacritic, which assigns a standardized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 71, which means "generally favorable", based on 22 reviews.
