Britney Jean is the eighth studio album by American singer Britney Spears.It was released on 3 December 2013 by RCA Records. The album was recorded between 2012 and 2013 during Spears' residency show Britney: Piece of Me at The AXIS in Las Vegas. Spears collaborated with a number of producers on the album, including will.i.am, Diplo, Max Martin and Shellback. The album's music contains elements of pop, dance-pop and electropop. Spears has stated that she wanted the album to have a "darker and edgier" tone, and that she was inspired by the music of Timbaland and Justin Timberlake. Britney Jean has received mixed reviews from music critics. Some praised her production and Spears' vocal performance, while others criticized her lyrical content and considered the album generic. The album debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200 chart with sales of 107,000 copies in its first week. It also reached the top ten in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway and the United Kingdom.
