Back to their roots Two years after the release of their last album "Edge Of The Sun", which reached number six in the German charts, Calexico is back in the studio with new material. "The Thread That Keeps Us" is the ninth LPm by the septet around Joey Burns and John Convertino. This time, the Arizona band found the perfect place to record in Northern California, specifically at Panoramic House, which was built out of driftwood and parts of a shipwreck. The first single "End Of The World With You" already announces a return to their indie rock roots. However, other musical influences such as mariachi, folk, country and Latin also appear on the record. Overall, "The Thread That Keeps Us" feels edgier, louder and more raucous than its predecessors. Calexico's signature, however, is clearly recognizable. The new indie rock year is off to a good start: 'The Thread That Keeps Us' by Calexico is the first genre highlight of January 2018.
