Reissuing David Bowie's American Period in 2016 A year ago, Parlophone Records began reissuing the complete works of rock legend David Bowie in stages. After the albums "Five Years (1969 - 1973)", "Who Can I Be Now? (1974 - 1976)", the second part of a series on his entire career. The title says it all: the extensive box set brings together all the important recordings from Bowie's "American period" between 1974 and 1976, on 12 CDs or 13 vinyl. These include "Diamond Dogs" (1974), "David Live" (in the original 1974 mix and in the 2005 mix), "Young Americans" (1975) and "Station To Station" (in the original 1976 mix and in the 2010 mix), as well as "Live At Nassau Coliseum '76". A very special highlight of the show, "Who Can I Be Now? (1974 - 1976)" is the previously unreleased album "The Gouster". Bowie recorded and produced the album in 1974 at Tony Visconti's Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia. However, it was never released as a complete album. Among the tracks are three previously unreleased mixes of "Right", "Can You Hear Me" and "Somebody Up There Likes Me". Visconti personally supervised the transfer from the original tapes. And last but not least, "Who Can I Be Now? (1974 - 1976)" contains a brand new compilation called "Re:Call 2". This is a collection of single versions and non-album b-sides. It includes the original single mix of "Rebel Rebel", which has only been available on the 2014 "40th Anniversary" picture disc since the single was first released in 1974. Also included is a previously unreleased single cut of "Diamond Dogs", which was released exclusively in Australia. The vinyl box has the same contents as the CD set. While the 13 LP version is released on 180g heavyweight audiophile vinyl, the CD version consists of specially made gold discs. Both boxes are accompanied by a comprehensive booklet. It contains rare and previously unpublished photographs, including those by photographers Eric Stephen Jacobs, Tom Kelley, Geoff MacCormack, Terry O'Neill and Steve Schapiro. In addition, there are historical reviews, in-depth technical details from Tony Visconti and Harry Maslin, and other special recollections of David Bowie's career. The eagerly awaited sequel to the series, entitled Who Can I Be Now?
