Four years ago, Jeff Lynne and his legendary band ELO celebrated a great comeback: the album "Alone In The Universe" ended a 14-year hiatus, reached number seven in the official German chart and number four in the UK chart. In the following years, the band undertook several sold-out tours in Europe and America and was inducted into the "Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame". The seventy-one-year-old singer has reached and influenced three generations of music fans with his songs - after a hiatus of several years, he has made an impressive comeback in recent years as a songwriter, musician and producer. The title track is also the album's opener, transporting the listener once again into the wonderful world of ELO, which consists of ten songs. The track list includes the brooding "Help Yourself", the celebratory "Down Came The Rain", the rocking "One More Time" (with a solo by pianist Richard Tandy) and the charming closing song "Songbird". As on his previous album "Alone In The Universe" (2015), Lynne once again manages to open up new facets within his legendary signature sound on "From Out Of Nowhere", building on his globally beloved musical legacy and breaking new sonic yet emotional boundaries. Once again, he plays almost every note himself - from guitar and bass to piano, drums, keyboards and vibraphone, as well as singing all lead and multi-part harmony vocals. Steve Jay, who was Lynne's engineer during recording, contributed several drum parts. The very existence of the album is an unexpectedly joyous occasion for both the creator and his fans. "'Out of Nowhere' - that's where it came from," says Lynne. "It was the first song I wrote for this album, and that's exactly how it turned out." The song is about hope and redemption. As is often the case in Lynne's career, the theme of optimism runs like a red thread throughout the album - in keeping with his motto: "Everyone should have a little hope." The album carries with it the energy and encouragement that the band's release of "Alone In The Universe" and triumphant return to live playing sparked. For the first time since 1985, the band embarked on a concert tour, which began in September 2014 with a performance in London's Hyde Park in front of over 50,000 people. Since then, Jeff Lynne's ELO have toured Europe and North America, playing sold-out shows at famous venues such as Radio City Music Hall in New York, eight nights at London's O2 Arena, a headline performance at the 2016 Glastonbury Festival, three spectacular fireworks displays at the Hollywood Bowl and a spectacle in front of 60,000 fans at Wembley Stadium. Footage of the last concert was released as a concert film under the title "Wembley Or Bust". An extensive US tour followed in 2018, followed by another twenty concerts in North America last summer. With over fifty million albums sold, ELO are one of the most successful and popular bands of their era, with 26 Top 40 UK hits and over fifty million records sold worldwide. In the U.S., they have four Top Ten albums, seven Top 20 placements and numerous hit singles. Twenty songs have made the US Top 40, seven the Top Ten. Lynne was also a co-founder of the Grammy Award-winning supergroup The Traveling Wilburys, which included George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan. As a producer and songwriter, he has worked with Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Tom Petty, Joe Cocker and Joe Walsh, among others. He produced George Harrison's album "Cloud Nine" and collaborated with Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr on "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love" from John Lennon's home recordings. In 2015, Jeff Lynne was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and in 2017 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where he played with his touring band as part of the ceremony.
