Legendary British singer and phenomenal musician Elton John will delight his fans with a new studio album in September. According to him, it will be one of the most important albums of his musical career and the beginning of a new phase... The album, named "The Diving Board", will be the first solo material of this phenomenal artist since 2006, when he released the great album "The Captain & The Kid". The lyrics for his new album were put together by Elton John with longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin, who has been behind the creation of perhaps all of Elton's seminal hits. The subsequent production of the album, which was recorded in Los Angeles, was handled by the proven American musician T-Bone Burnett, who was behind the successful albums of Diana Krall, Elvis Costello and Lisa Marie Presley, and who produced the album "The Union" for Elton John, which he recorded with Leon Russell in 2010... The album will be, in the words of Elton John himself, a return to the past. It promises a classic piano-bass-drums sound, the sound on which he built his breakthrough records in the early 70s. John surrounded himself with a team of fantastic artists for the recording sessions. Guitarist Doyle Bramhall, r'n'b singer and guitarist Raphael Saadiq, who took on bass, Keefus Ciancia, who took on keys, and drummer Jay Bellerose contributed to the record. "During the first three days of recording in 2012, Bernie and I wrote eleven songs. All the songs of the first session were then recorded in just five days. We returned to the studio this year and wrote some additional lyrics with Bernie. I then selected four of them and they were written and recorded in another two days," Elton John himself praises the creation of the new songs.The album "The Diving Board" will be released in several different physical formats. The basic edition on CD and vinyl will contain a total of fifteen songs, the deluxe version will be enriched with four additional songs - the studio recording of "Candletit Bedroom" and three live songs recorded earlier this year at the legendary Capital Studios. Die-hard fans will be clamouring for the limited super deluxe box set, which in addition to the expanded CD version will include vinyl, a book and a bonus DVD revealing the behind-the-scenes making of the album. There's a lot in it that fans can take away from listening to it.
