As there were only five songs in the film, it was decided to record them as a soundtrack EP. However, in South Africa, it was decided to release an LP version in 1958. It features the entire Jailhouse Rock EP and seven other tracks, all of which are of a very high standard. This new release replicates the South African release of the time.
