Fritz Wunderlich was blessed with arguably the most beautiful lyric tenor voice of the 20th century. This album combines, for the first time, his legendary recordings of traditional Christmas carols with excerpts from Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio, with contributions from Gundula Jannowitz and Christa Ludwig in addition to Wunderlich. Wunderlich's youngest daughter, Barbara Wunderlich, has written a new text especially for this booklet, which provides exciting information about how Christmas was celebrated at the Wunderlichs' home.
