The Great Cold Distance is the sixth studio album by Swedish metal band Katatonia , released on 3 April 2006. The album was recorded at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden, and produced by Jens Bogren. It is the band's first album to feature new drummer Daniel Liljekvist, who replaced Martin Lopez after his departure in 2005. The album was met with positive critical acclaim, with many reviewers praising the band's move towards a more progressive sound. It was also commercially successful, reaching number 44 on the Swedish album chart. The album spawned two singles, "My Twin" and "Deliberation".
