A new star has appeared in the world conducting orbit. It is the young Venezuelan artist Gustavo Dudamel. (In January 2007 he will make his first guest appearance in the Czech Philharmonic subscription series in Prague.) He is being talked about as a life-giving torrent that will revive the Europe-USA cycle in this field. The fact that Dudamel, in his debut with DG, is not conducting an established, well-known orchestra, but an unknown ensemble of young people from his native country, which he has trained, is considered by critics to be very beneficial.
