The band's lineup changed again and again, but still managed to achieve great prominence. Their 1975 album Visions of the Emerald Beyond is a more accessible work, consisting of shorter jazz-rock songs. The songs are interconnected and influenced by the funk music of the time. Fast fusion tracks alternate with shorter pieces. The album features captivating guitar riffs and beautiful piano and violin melodies. Visions of the Emerald Beyond is a magnificent musical work of jazz virtuosity at the highest level. The Mahavishnu Orchestra is often cited as a group that had a great influence on other musicians of the time. Admirers of the Mahavishnu Orchestra include artists such as King Crimson, Frank Zappa and The Mars Volta.
