The man who gave us the irresistible summer hit "Bongo Bong" in 2000 (and made the soundtrack to Madonna's The Next Big Thing a real highlight) returns with the first live album of his solo career. Manu Chao, meanwhile, has played approximately 100 concerts around the world with his ten-piece concert band Radio Bemba Sound System. From Marseille to Tokyo and from Los Angeles to Moscow, this diverse group has brought the halls to a boil with their multicultural musical ratatouille. Then, in September 2001, Manu Chao, the former boss and pom-pom hat of Mano Negra, performed live in Paris and had himself recorded. That evening, the programme at the Grande Halle de la Vilette featured tracks from both solo albums. The ska song "Welcome To Tijuana" and the reggae song "El Viento" from the debut album Clandestino were performed. And the track "Mr. Bobby," a tribute to Bob Marley, was featured as a highlight of the second solo CD, Proxima Estacion: Esperanca. In addition, Oscar Tramor (his own name) interpreted several classic Mano Negro songs in great stage versions. For example, "Machine Gun" (Casa Babylon) and "Peligro" (America Perdida).
