Queen's "Hot Space" is an album that is often overlooked. It was released in 1982 and marked a departure from the band's traditional sound. The album was commercially unsuccessful, but has since been reappraised by music critics. Hot Space contains a mixture of funk, rock and dance music. The album's lead single, the track "Body Language", was a dance track that reached number 11 in the UK Singles Chart. The second single from the album, "Under Pressure", was a collaboration with David Bowie and reached number one in the UK and number two in the US. Despite its commercial failure, Hot Space was praised by music critics. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic, in a retrospective review, called the album "an interesting experiment that is at best an infectious, danceable record". Hot Space is an underrated album worth returning to. It's a departure from Queen's traditional sound 'but it's a fun and infectious album worth checking out.
