Rammstein will release the concert film RAMMSTEIN: PARIS!
After the German band Rammstein released their concert film RAMMSTEIN: PARIS in sixty countries around the world with great success last week, they have announced the release of this concert footage on DVD, Blu-Ray, CD and vinyl! It will be available in stores on May 19.
The tour for the 1995 - 2011 Made In Germany selection, which the band embarked on in November 2011, was their biggest project to date. It featured 78 shows in Europe and 21 in North America, and the band brought along a costly stage structure made of steel that was 24 metres wide and 15 metres high. All this was complemented by a hundred speakers, a 380,000 watt sound system, 25 trucks and a 125-strong team to take care of everything.
Anyone who planned to make a film about such a tour must have been thinking big, just like the band itself. This is the main reason why the production of the concert film RAMMSTEIN: PARIS took a good five years. The film was directed by the acclaimed Swedish director Jonas Ĺkerlund, who is known for his controversial music videos for Metallica, The Prodigy, The Rolling Stones and Rammstein. He decided to record the two concerts the band played in March 2012 at the Palais Omnisports arena in Paris. The resulting film presents a total of twenty-two concert songs, with a total running time of 128 minutes, as well as a radical new deployment of the band members throughout the show, giving fans the most professional visual and musical experience to date.
"We filmed both concerts in Paris with a total of thirty cameras. This gave us a total of sixty angles. In addition, we took close-up shots of the individual members during the dress rehearsals. So you can imagine how much material we ended up with. What emerged is a complete Rammstein show, but I took a precise step-by-step approach to processing it - just as I do with a three-minute video. And the amount of energy I put in corresponded to that. With the help of a huge team of editors, it took us well over a year to complete the editing work," says the director himself.
The concert documentary RAMMSTEIN: PARIS will appear in stores in several different formats. In addition to the digital version, it will be available on 2CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, in a DVD/Blu-Ray combination together with the audio recording on CD, but also, for example, as a deluxe box combining CD, Blu-Ray and four blue vinyls with a recording of the entire show. The concert video with the song Wollt ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen - the first song from Rammstein's very first album - reveals what fans can expect on the visual media.
