Four recordings catapulted American punk rock from the center of alternative youth to the stadium in the 1990s and ensured punk's revival in music and fashion around the world: Bad Religion's "Suffer" (1988), Green Day's "Dookie" (1994), The Offspring's "Smash" (1994), and Rancid's "And Out Come The Wolves" (1995). In retrospect, it's striking that, aside from "Dookie," the other three albums mentioned were released on Epitaph. To mark the twentieth anniversary of "And Out Come The Wolves", the label is now releasing a remastered deluxe version of this style-defining album, which is also Rancid's most successful and best-known album. Unlike "Smash" and especially "Dookie", "And Out Come The Wolves" is much more aggressive and, thanks to its ska-influenced sound (The Clash, The Specials), much more creative. The album reached number 45 on the Billboard chart in 1995.
