The album was recorded in Los Angeles, California and features the tracks "Angel of Death", "Piece by Piece", "Raining Blood", "Postmortem", "Altar of Sacrifice", "Jesus Saves", "Criminally Insane" and "Epidemic". The album Reign in Blood was critically acclaimed, with many music critics calling it one of the best thrash metal albums of all time. The album was also commercially successful, ranking at number 94 on the Billboard 200 and selling over two million copies in the United States. The album Reign in Blood has been cited as a major influence on the death metal, black metal and thrash metal genres, with bands such as Metallica, Pantera, Cannibal Corpse and Napalm Death citing it as an influence.
