SLEAFORD MODS are back. In their luggage: Their third "real" album, again released on the abstract punk label Harbinger Sound. SLEAFORD MODS were responsible for everything else. "Key Markets was a big supermarket that existed in the middle of Grantham from the early seventies until 1980," explains Jason Williamson. "My mum used to take me shopping and I'd have a large Coke in an orange plastic cup amongst the varnished wooden skirting boards and flowered lampshades. There were beige bricks all around me with garish yellow sale faces and giant foam letters. That's why we christened the album "Key Markets." It's a continuation of the mundane and our take on it." "The album was recorded at different times from the summer to the fall of 2014. We worked quickly as always, the approach was exactly the same as the other two albums and the sound evolved on its own in the same way. "Key Markets" is quite abstract in places, but it still deals with the disorientation of modern life. It still deals with the extinction of the individual, illusions of grandeur and the pointlessness of government policy. It is a classic. Fuck them."
