Of all the bands that emerged in the immediate aftermath of punk rock in the late 70s, few were as enduring and popular as The Cure. Led by guitarist/vocalist Robert Smith (born April 21, 1959), the band became notorious through numerous incarnations for their slow, gritty vocals and Smith's creepy good looks, a public image that often hid the complexity of The Cure 's music.

This "Greatest Hits" compilation brings together 18 of "The Cure"'s most distinctive songs from the period between 1979 and 2001.

From the late 1980s to the late 1990s, British goth rock band The Cure were at the height of their career. The albums "Disintegration" and "Wish" contained numerous hit singles by the band and led to sold-out stadium concerts all over the world. This "Greatest Hits" sampler brings this phase of the band back to life with songs such as "Lullaby", "Friday I'm in Love" and "Lovesong".
