Trumpeter Till Brönner, Germany's most successful jazz musician, has recorded his long-awaited next studio album with jazz legend and Grammy Award winner Bob James. One from the homeland of jazz, the other from the womb of the European tradition, they have arranged to meet in autumn 2019 at the legendary studio "La Fabrique" in the south of France. "Both of us initially had very different ideas about where our joint session should go. However, all theory should give way to a central feeling, we both knew that immediately," sums up the development process for the multiple ECHO Award winner and Grammy-nominated musician extraordinaire Brönner. A familiar standard - "Basin Street Blues" - eventually produced a breakthrough. The song from New Orleans, the musical cradle of hard-fought freedom, opened a vista of common ground. The result is as profound as it is ambiguous: "'On Vacation' is, for me, the soundtrack to the break." Virtuosic, full of creative love for exquisite detail, and at the same time with as much nonchalance as possible, Brönner and James create imaginative and sonically picturesque music to ponder, pause, smile and cry to. Together with their fantastic fellow musicians, including drumming legends Harvey Mason and Wolfgang Haffner, they combine famous hits with mysteriously shimmering textures to create colourful new interpretations and add their own compositions, all of which have a touch of eternity. "These recordings are definitely different from anything I've done before," explains Brönner. The limited audiophile 180g edition double vinyl of Till Brönner and Bob James' hit "On Vacation" includes all 12 songs from the original album and two bonus tracks, "If Someone had Told Me" and "Zingaro". Both LPs are packaged in gatefold sleeves and protected by high quality inner sleeves.
