There's been ups and downs in the scene all the time. All the while, however, Ruf has steadily evolved from its roots as a one-man vision to one of the most important international blues and rock labels with a wealth of talent. And if that sounds bold, here's the proof... Of course, Thomas Ruf didn't expect anything like this in 1994. That's when he set up the label to enable Luther Allison to release some of the best albums of his career. Luther tragically lost his battle with cancer in 1997, but Ruf Records continued to be dedicated to the most important blues-rock artists in America, England and beyond. Walter Trout, Royal Southern Brotherhood, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Mike Zito, Jeff Healey, Savoy Brown, Dana Fuchs, Bernard Allison, Samantha Fish and many more. For anyone with even a passing interest in the blues, this list of legends, supergroups and up-and-coming young artists must be a Hall of Fame inductee. That's why on this sampler, compiled by Thomas Ruf to mark the 25th anniversary, one interesting thing after another follows. Twenty-six timeless songs by Ruf artists on CD and DVD since the label's inception in 1994. Twenty-five years - the story so far... and it's time to roll up our sleeves for another 25 years!
