Reissue of the legendary New York sampler by Soul Jazz. In 1995, one of the first releases of the then still young London-based label Soul Jazz Records was released: 'Nu Yorica! - Culture Clash In New York City: Experiments In Latin Music 1970-77'. The compilation about the clash of New York culture of Latin, soul, jazz and funk became a milestone and a musical monument to the melting pot of the Big Apple and artists like Eddie Palmieri, Joe Bataan, Machito, Ocho, Grupo Folklorico, Cortijo, Ricardo Marrero and Cachao. However, the collection was unavailable for several years, so the label decided to re-release it: remastered with new tracks, additional photos and a large booklet, as a double-CD and as a double-LP on super-loud vinyl. Review: "There's groovy Latin jazz rock like Ricardo Marrero's 'Babalonia', fiery dancefloor sweepers like Joe Bataan's 'Aftershower Funk', or voodoo, psychedelic incantations like the Machito Orchestra's 13-minute 'Macho'.
