Palais Pop and Locarno Latin" is the fourth part of the great series "Britxotica!". As before, this intoxicating sonic adventure is dedicated to the previously undocumented pre-Beatles British music scene, and thus to the songs for which once-famous but also completely unknown local composers, singers, bandleaders and orchestra leaders left their umbrellas and bowler hats in the dressing room to simply go wild without convention. It's not very British, but apparently it's widespread, as two tasteful compilation specialists Jonny Trunk and Martin Green still have no trouble unearthing suitable archive gems. In their fourth year, they've come up with 18 tracks, which they've assigned to the theme of "South American-inspired ballroom". In other words, these two dancers give us a dynamic fireworks display of exceptional dance numbers ranging from the enchanting cha-cha-cha to the spirited Latin to the magical mambo. Legends of ballroom music such as Edmundo Ros, Ted Heath and Stanley Black, as well as unrecognised compositional geniuses such as John Graven and John Warren, will be heard.
