Product information In the beginning, disco was the sound of New York's underground clubs, and only those who knew what was going on understood what was going on. One of the key figures was Tom Moulton, who practically invented the widespread disco mix. The Detroit label Westbound Records saw that by using Tom's skills they could adapt their recordings to the dance floor. "Westbound Disco" is a tribute to that era. This ten-track CD and eight-track double album on vinyl collects the strongest disco mixes to appear on the label. Five of the tracks are by Moulton and the others are by Issa Sanchez and Hippie Torales. Originally only available as promo 12" or as part of commercially released albums, they are a great showcase of the mixers' skills and the artists' talents. The music ranges from the extended soul groove of "Feel The Need" by the Detroit Emeralds to the electro sounds of "You Brought The Sunshine" by the Clark Sisters, and includes "Devil's Gun" by CJ & Co - the first record played at the iconic Studio 54 - as well as obscurities from Eramus Hall and Crowd Pleasers. With distinctive packaging based on the bags that originally housed some of the 12" singles, and detailed liner notes, this compilation is a must-have.
