Together with Steve Lillywhite, Swindon's XTC have created "Drums & Wires", an album full of a musical diversity that would have been unimaginable two years earlier and, sadly, even today. With the arrival of Dave Gregory as guitarist, the style of the band changed, now playing two guitars, bass and drums. This album greatly helped the band expand their reputation for unique post-punk pop songs. The album Drums & Wires, released in early September, entered the UK album chart, where it stayed for seven weeks, and was accompanied by the first single "Making Plans for Nigel", which reached the Top 20 in the UK. The Blu-ray edition includes a new mix by Steven Wilson in surround 5.1 and stereo, the original mix and additional bonus material.
