Dennis Thompson

Dennis Thompson is best known as the drummer for the influential proto-punk band MC5 (Motor City 5), which was formed in Lincoln Park, Michigan, in 1964. The band was a pivotal force in the late 1960s counterculture movement, with their loud, energetic style of rock music and radical political stance. Thompson, along with bandmates Rob Tyner, Wayne Kramer, Fred "Sonic" Smith, and Michael Davis, created a sound that would heavily influence the punk rock genre that emerged in the mid-1970s. MC5's live album "Kick Out the Jams," recorded in 1968 and released in 1969, is one of their most notable works.
