Emerging Indie Folk Songstress

Grace Williams (1906–1977) was a Welsh composer, notable for being one of the first British women to achieve recognition in the field of classical music composition. Born in Barry, South Wales, she studied at the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire in Cardiff, later attending the Royal College of Music in London where she was a student of Ralph Vaughan Williams. She also studied with Gordon Jacob and later with Egon Wellesz in Vienna.
