Indie rock project led by David Berman

Purple Mountains was an indie rock project formed by American singer-songwriter and musician David Berman. The band released its eponymous debut album "Purple Mountains" in July 2019. Prior to this project, David Berman was best known as the frontman of the band Silver Jews, which he led from 1989 until their disbandment in 2009. After a decade-long hiatus from music, Berman returned with Purple Mountains, which marked a significant comeback for him in the indie music scene. The album received critical acclaim for its poignant lyricism and was seen as a continuation of Berman's introspective and darkly humorous songwriting style. Tragically, David Berman passed away in August 2019, shortly after the release of the album, bringing an abrupt end to the project.
