Swiss symphony orchestra located in Biel (Bienne).
Founded in 1969 as Bieler Orchestergesellschaft, the first chief conductor was Jost Meier, followed by Ivan Anguélov, Grzegorz Nowak, Marc Tardue, Hans Urbanek, Thomas Rösner (2) and since 2012 by Kaspar Zehnder. The orchestra plays concerts as well as opera at the theatre in Biel and Solothurn. In 1989 the orchestra was renamed into Sinfonie Orchester Biel, while in
