The Crookes

The Crookes were an indie rock band that formed in Sheffield, England, in 2008. Comprising George Waite, Daniel Hopewell, Russell Bates, and Tom Dakin, the band was known for their jangly guitar sound and literate lyrics. They gained a dedicated following through relentless touring and by harnessing the power of social media in the early stages of their career. The Crookes released several albums and EPs during their time together, with notable works including "Chasing After Ghosts" (2011), "Hold Fast" (2012), and "Soapbox" (2014). Their music often drew comparisons to British indie bands of the 1980s and 1990s. Despite a loyal fan base and critical acclaim within indie music circles, The Crookes disbanded in 2017 after releasing their final album, "Lucky Ones," in 2016.
