Tom Tom Club is an American new wave band founded in 1981 by husband-and-wife team Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz, both of whom were also members of the seminal post-punk group Talking Heads. The band's self-titled debut album, "Tom Tom Club," released the same year, was a commercial success and featured the hit single "Genius of Love," which has been widely sampled by various artists over the years. Their music is known for its upbeat dance rhythms, funky basslines, and eclectic influences ranging from reggae to hip hop. While not as commercially successful as their debut, subsequent albums like "Close to the Bone" and "Boom Boom Chi Boom Boom" continued to showcase their innovative approach to music. The band's influence can be seen in the work of many later artists, and they have maintained a cult following through sporadic releases and performances into the 21st century.
