Working Week

British Jazz-Pop Ensemble

Working Week was a British jazz-dance band that was active primarily during the 1980s. Formed in 1983 by guitarist Simon Booth and saxophonist Larry Stabbins, the band was known for its fusion of jazz, soul, and Latin music. Vocalist Juliet Roberts was also a key member, contributing significantly to the band's sound. Working Week's debut album "Working Nights," released in 1985, is considered one of their most successful works, featuring the hit single "Venceremos (We Will Win)" which became an anthem for the left-wing in the UK. The band's music often carried political messages and was influenced by the contemporary anti-apartheid movement and other social issues of the time. Throughout their career, they released several albums and collaborated with various artists, helping to popularize the jazz-pop genre within the UK music scene before disbanding in the early 1990s.
