Euro-Disco

Euro-disco generally refers to disco-pop songs that have a strong Italo-disco influence, but do not originate from Italy. The term implies a relationship to Europe as a whole, although most songs belonging to this genre are predominantly German productions Like Italo-disco, it incorporates a mix of electronic sounds and disco rhythms along with a strong synth sense to create bittersweet melodies accompanied by vocals that often have contemporary themes. This style strongly dominated the German music industry in the mid-1980s and gained popularity in several other European countries such as France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Although it fell into obscurity in the 1990s, its influence lived on through subsequent genres such as Eurodance, Europop, Eurobeat, etc.
