Influential Hip-Hop Group from New York

Brand Nubian is an influential American hip hop group from New Rochelle, New York, composed of three emcees: Grand Puba, Sadat X, and Lord Jamar, and two DJs: DJ Alamo and DJ Sincere. Their debut album "One For All," released in 1990, is considered a classic in the hip hop genre, known for its socially conscious lyrics and incorporation of jazz samples. The group's second album, "In God We Trust," came out in 1993 and continued their engagement with issues of black nationalism, religion, and social justice. Brand Nubian's members have also pursued solo careers but have periodically reunited to release new material and perform together. Their impact on hip hop is marked by their thought-provoking lyrics and their contributions to the Afrocentric and Five-Percent Nation movements within the genre.
