Dave Matthews Band, often abbreviated as DMB, is an American rock band formed in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1991. The band is known for its unique sound, which combines elements of rock, jazz, and funk. The group's frontman, Dave Matthews, is a singer-songwriter and guitarist, and he is accompanied by a group of talented musicians that have included names like Carter Beauford (drums), Stefan Lessard (bass), LeRoi Moore (saxophone), Boyd Tinsley (violin), and later members such as Jeff Coffin (saxophone) after Moore's death in 2008, and Rashawn Ross (trumpet). The band gained national attention with their breakthrough album "Under the Table and Dreaming" in 1994.
