The return of the electro pioneer There was a long silence around German-Romanian music producer and composer Michael Cretu, who is probably better known as Enigma. In 2016, eight years after his last album, this electro and new age project finally returns with a new album: 'The Fall Of A Rebel Angel'. It is a concept album. "The Fall Of A Rebel Angel" tells the story of a nameless protagonist who embarks on a journey that represents humanity: a journey towards a better, more fulfilled life. This journey contains a total of twelve chapters in the form of twelve tracks. They are based on a poem by German singer-songwriter, writer and librettist Michael Kunze, which is included in the album. All tracks on "The Fall Of A Rebel Angel" are accompanied by 13 paintings by German painter and former art forger Wolfgang Beltracchi. Musically, he goes - as it were - towards electronica, new age, synthpop and downtempo. Cretu is supported by artists Nanuk, Mark Josher, Anggun and Aquilo. In addition to the standard CD, "The Fall Of A Rebel Angel" is also available on LP and in a limited deluxe edition. In addition to the album on CD, the bonus CD includes a story in three languages read aloud with musical accompaniment. A 40-page booklet completes the set. For true fans, a limited super deluxe edition is also available. In addition to the double CD, it includes a key to further digital content and a numbered and signed print of the cover motif by Wolfgang Beltracchi, set in a 50 x 50 cm frame. Enigma is considered one of the most successful musical projects of all time. Founded in 1990 by musician and songwriter Michael Cretu, the project has sold more than 70 million albums worldwide, countless number one hits and more than 100 platinum awards. All eight studio albums, originally released between 1990 and 2016, have been released in 2018 in a limited edition on coloured vinyl and with significantly redesigned packaging. Following huge fan demand, a reissue of Enigma's complete studio catalogue will now be released on black vinyl. The artwork will have a special metallic look and will be pressed on 180g. In addition, the compilation "Love Sensuality Devotion: The Greatest Hits", which was released in 2001, will also be released on vinyl. Michael Cretu was born in 1957 in Bucharest and came to Germany in the mid-1970s. Although he was classically trained as a concert pianist, he soon turned to pop music and worked with Boney M. Among others. His breakthrough came with his debut single "Maria Magdalena". At the end of the 80's he started looking for new musical avenues and created the Enigma project. With a conceptual mix of atmospheric soundscapes and multifaceted instrumental colours, he took the electronic music genre into new, successful paths.
