Gojira is well known as one of the most talented and extreme art metal bands of today. Such a phenomenon is very rare: A band comes along that takes everything you thought you knew about metal up until now, ditches it, and ends up creating something completely unique. You'd be hard pressed to find comparable bands. With the albums "From Mars To Sirius" (2005) and "The Way of the Flesh" (2008), the French have established themselves as a metal force of nature and a leader in their field. Gojira consists of singer and guitarist Joe Duplantier, whose relationship with Roadrunner is not entirely new (he played bass on Cavalera Conspiracy's debut album "Inflikted"), guitarist Christian Andreu, bassist Jean-Michel Labadie and drummer Mario Duplantier, Joe's brother. "We are thrilled to be working with the legendary Roadrunner," says Joe of the new partnership. "Thanks to them, we discovered Sepultura, Machine Head, Death, Fear Factory and many other great bands. Roadrunner is a great source of inspiration for us as metal fans. It's an honor to be part of this family as a band today. We feel we are getting the right support at the right time in our career. We can't wait to release the new record and get back on the road." The first collaborative album will be Gojira's fifth studio album and will feature Joe Duplantier himself as producer along with Josh Wilbur (Lamb Of God). Gojira hasn't been bored in between albums either. They recently recorded four songs on the "Sea Shepherd" EP, the proceeds of which will go to the foundation of the same name. Sea Shepherd actively campaigns to protect the ocean environment. One of the tracks, "Blood and Salt", has just been released on the UK's Metal Hammer sampler, with an official release date to be announced soon. It is already certain to feature notable guests Lamb Of God (Randy Blythe), Mastodon (Brent Hinds), Soulfly (Max Cavalera) and Strapping Young Lad (Devin Townsend).
