Lana Del Rey's Born to Die, released in January 2013, was one of the most anticipated albums of the year. Critics and fans alike were curious to see how the young singer's unique style would translate into a full-length album. The result was a mix of stripped-down ballads and upbeat tracks that showcased Del Rey's signature sound: a sultry blend of jazz, blues and pop. the album's lead single, "Born to Die," became an instant hit and topped the charts in several countries. Other standout tracks include "Summertime Sadness", "Blue Jeans" and "National Anthem". Born to Die was a critical and commercial success, selling more than five million copies worldwide. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album and Del Rey won several other awards, including the Brit Award for Best International Solo Female Artist.
