Norah Jones Reinventing the piano It's been four years since the release of his last solo album Norah Jones, and three years since his collaboration with Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. In 2016, the American soul and jazz singer, pianist and songwriter presents a new album, her sixth, entitled "Day Breaks". She recorded a total of twelve songs for it. In addition to nine original songs, "Day Breaks" also contains three cover versions of Neil Young's "Don't Be Denied", Horace Silver's "Peace" and Duke Ellington's "Fleurette Africaine (African Flower)". With "Carry On," Jones unveiled the first single from the new album in early August. The soulful, laid-back song with piano shows the jazz and soul singer returning to her musical beginnings. She composed all nine songs on piano, not guitar, as she's been doing more and more lately. The sound is very reminiscent of her successful 2002 debut "Come Away with Me". Norah Jones was supported in the studio by several renowned musicians. Brian Blade and Karriem Riggins sat behind the drums, John Patitucci played bass, Tony Scherr on guitar, Lonnie Smith on Hammond organ and Wayne Shorter on saxophone - just to name a few. Back to their roots: Norah Jones goes back to their beginnings in the song "Day Breaks". Relaxed piano jazz with an incredible amount of soul - no one does it better than her.
