When it all started in 2005, Christian Pliefke probably had no idea that ten years later, his label Nordic Notes would release its 100th release. In the beginning you could still find the spacerock and psychedelic sound of bands like Hidria Spacefolk, Ulpa or Alamaailman Vasarat, but the musical direction changed noticeably when the kings of humpbacked Eläkeläiset signed to Nordic Notes in 2010. Since then, more and more folk, jazz and all sorts of quirky music from Finland, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and even the Baltic states has crept into the label's less rock-oriented schedule. With "Nordic Notes 100", Pliefke celebrates the here and now, celebrating 99 past releases and thus the future and the next 100 exciting, moving and fascinating musical gems.
