Clan of Xymox, also known as simply Xymox, is a band that has played a significant role in the darkwave and gothic music scenes. The group was formed in the Netherlands in 1981 by Ronny Moorings and Anka Wolbert, and they were later joined by Pieter Nooten. Their self-titled album "Clan of Xymox" was released in 1985 under the label 4AD, which is known for its roster of alternative and post-punk artists. This debut album established their reputation for moody, synth-driven music and melancholic themes.
