Nips 'n Nipple Erectors, more commonly known as The Nips, were a British punk rock band formed in London in 1976 by vocalist/songwriter Shane MacGowan, who later gained fame as the lead singer of The Pogues. The band's music was characterized by its energetic punk sound and MacGowan's distinctive vocal style. Despite their influence on the punk scene, The Nips were relatively short-lived, with their career marked by a series of singles rather than full-length albums. They released a few notable singles such as "Gabrielle" and "King of the Bop," which have since become cult classics within the punk community. The band underwent several lineup changes and eventually disbanded in the early 1980s, with MacGowan going on to form The Pogues and achieving greater commercial success.
