Peter Schilling

German New Wave/Synthpop Musician

Peter Schilling is a German synthpop musician whose career took off in the early 1980s. He is best known for his hit single "Major Tom (Völlig losgelöst)," which was released in 1982 and became a substantial success in Germany and other countries. The song is a retelling of David Bowie's classic "Space Oddity," but with a distinct new wave twist. Schilling's debut album, "Fehler im System" (1982), which contained this track, was later released in an English version titled "Error in the System" (1983) for the international market, helping to solidify his place in the new wave movement outside of Germany as well.
